physical features
Physically, the dodo had unique features. Even though it is from the same family as pigeons, paintings from European artists of the time, show a different picture. According to written descriptions, it had a large and heavy body covered with brown and white feathers, it had tiny thin wings that would not allow them to fly. They had a large clump of feathers on the tip of their small tail and a long black beak that would grow up to a foot long. Adult dodo could grow to a height of three feet with a weight of 45 pounds. It was an odd looking animal similar to present day Ostrich. (There is conclusive facts since a complete dodo skeleton has not been found. This description is based on drawings from that age.)
